The Swordsman

A Play in Three Acts

by Timothy Maloney, David Helmink and Don Gardner

"Show me a hero and I will write a tragedy" - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Have you ever wondered how heroes stride into legend? What inner drive or outside forces compelled them to greatness? How much of their legend was myth or fact? Now imagine a young man with the ideals of a true hero, yet without the skills to fight for them. This is a recipe for disaster. Such is Don Raphael's dilemma. As he encounters the varied examples of the human condition, he remains true to himself and gains strength from the experience, although not in the manner you would expect. But, don't be fooled, this is no tragedy. Instead, the twists and turns in the story are "of the gentler sort" and it is our sincere hope you may take delight in the fanciful tale we humbly present. - Don Gardner
