Some of the pictures are very hard to get a good scan of. If you have any photos, please contact the webmaster through the Contact link. What we have tried to do is capture the feel of the play - not necessarily the ability to identify individual actors.
Over The Tavern
by Tom Dudzick
Thoughts about Tavern MaryAnn Brooks
"Pretty much all the honest truth telling there is in the world is done by children." Anonymous
Families come in all shapes and sizes, most with a few warts and bruises, some some deeply hidden. Trophies and awards are not often distributed for some of life's most important tasks, and the rule book is not always as simple as the Baltimore Catechism No. 1.
Facing challenges as a father, Chet senses that, "We're at a crossroads here". His victories in everyday life now consist simply of hanging in there, doing a job, never seeking a better way. Although Sister Clarissa informs Rudy that there is no heaven on earth, his mother, Ellen, asks, "can't we make it a little better for the kids than what we had?"
The children seem to get it first - the idea of possibilities, the need to question. In describing a happy family. Annie expresses it best, "it would just be nice...to talk". Perhaps, even at home, reaching up to God begins with reaching out to one another. Each of our characters takes a chance and journeys into new territory.
