Fools

Welcome to the village of Kulyenchikov, where every citizen has been affected by a 200-year-old curse that makes them all childishly stupid. This rural Ukrainian village is the setting for Neil Simon's absolutely ridiculous comic fable Fools The delightful inhabitants of Kulyenchikov can hardly remember their own names, let alone do simple math or remember which way the door opens. They even sweep dirt into their homes. In an attempt to break the curse, Dr. Zubritsky has hired school teacher Leon Tolchinsky to teach his daughter, Sophia, who is sweet and beautiful, yet with all the smarts of a doorstop. But the catch, Leon soon learns, is that he has 24 hours in which to make her intelligent or he becomes as stupid as they are. Will the hero save the village, will love triumph over evil, will the doctor learn to open a jar? Don't be afraid to boo the villain, cheer the hero and sigh heady emotion as the beautiful heroine manages to sit down without assistance. Welcome to Kulyenchikov, we hope you will enjoy your visit.
