The Mousetrap
Several people, all with motive or opportunity for murder, are trapped together by a snowstorm in Fine Arts, County of Effingham's latest production.
FACE will present "The Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie on Friday, May 29, Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31. The play will be a dinner theater at the Holiday Inn in Effingham, with dinner served at 6:30 each evening, followed by the play at 8 p.m.
This two-act thriller, which has had a successful three-decade professional run, revolves around a young couple who have just opened a guest house in the country. Their guests, not all of whom are invited, arrive just before a blizzard cuts off the manor house from the rest of the world.
As is the case with most of Christie's plays, one of the characters is murdered, and the other characters view each other with suspicion, wondering which of them is the killer - and who will be the next killed.
Cindy Borsch and Mike Hindman portray the couple, and Jim Sherrick is a police detective who arrives to investigate a possible link between the guest house and a previous murder.
The guests are played by Tim Davis, Debbie Wissink, Carl Siepker, Kathy Kelly and Dick Russell.
"The Mousetrap" is directed by Laurie Arnold, who is assisted by Bob Cox.
Tickets for the production are $12.50 each, and reservations must be made in advance. The price includes the cost of the meal, which will consist of rib-eye steak, baked potato, salad, dessert and beverage. In addition, a special discount price of $11 a ticket will be offered to senior citizens, age 60 and older, for the Sunday performance only.
